The bustling community of Lewisville can soon converge at the local public library, where a string of activities aims to marry education and social interaction. According to the Lewisville Public Library's latest announcement, book lovers and casual readers alike are invited to participate in several community events, tailored for both the young and the seasoned. The library, located at 1197 W. Main Street, stands ready to become more than shelves of silent books by opening its doors to become a haven of stories told aloud and languages practiced in cheerful company, as per the City of Lewisville.
For families eager to quickly introduce their children to the art of storytelling, ‘Family Storytime’ is set for Saturday, July 26, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. in the Bennett Program Room. Here, trainers with skill will carefully incorporate age-appropriate literature and activities to engage the children. Free tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes before the event at the Youth Services Desk, but caregivers are advised to come early, as seating is limited. A caretaker’s presence is required to oversee and partake in their children’s journey through each narrative.
In a move to take tales out of the library’s walls, ‘Story Stroll Storytime at Central Park’ promises an alfresco literary session for families with children of all ages. On Friday, Aug. 1, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at Central Park, 1899 S Edmonds Lane, attendance is as easy as showing up, no ticket or prior registration needed. However, those who prefer to stroll and read at their own pace can do so anytime the park is open. Attendees should be mindful to check social media updates regarding weather conditions that might affect the outdoor plans.
For adults, the ‘English Conversation Hour’ addresses the often-overlooked need to simply speak and be heard. Slated for Friday, Aug. 1, from Noon to 1 p.m. in the Crawford Meeting Room, the hour offers a chance to practice English in "a fun, casual group setting." Corresponding with the library’s emphasis on accessibility, no prior registration is necessary for this event either. English speakers of all proficiency levels are encouraged to join, mingle, and enjoy light refreshments while honing their language skills.
