The police department described how officers were able to track down the motorcycle to a parking lot without the need to actively engage in a high-speed pursuit. As reported by WSMV, a "proactive pursuit-prevention plan" was quickly activated, and the motorcycle was safely monitored as it moved through the area. Another agency had to briefly pursue the motorcycle after observing the rider's helmet violation, but that chase was quickly terminated.
The rider was a 20-year-old man from Lafayette who was eventually apprehended after he attempted to flee on foot following a loss of control of the motorcycle. Initially, he provided police with a false name, but upon discovery of his true identity, active warrants for probation violations related to joyriding and providing false identification were found, as mentioned by WKRN.
The Mt. Juliet Police expressed their satisfaction with the outcome, stating on social media, "We’re proud of our officers’ swift and strategic response." They further emphasized that their dedication and the use of advanced technology continue to keep Mt. Juliet one of the safest communities in Tennessee.
