A fire erupted at the clubhouse of Palm Coast's Pine Lake Apartments, and lightning could be the culprit. According to a report by ClickOrlando, the Palm Coast Fire Department attended the scene following alerts from residents about smoke emanating from the clubhouse amid a robust afternoon thunderstorm.
Witnesses reported seeing a lightning strike hit the building just moments before it caught fire. When the fire department arrived, they observed that the rooftop was fully engulfed, indicating significant damage to the building's structural integrity, officials said. Fortunately, residents of the apartment complex were relieved to find that no nearby units were affected by the blaze.
Details from FOX 35 Orlando state that the call to fire services was placed shortly after 5:30 p.m. yesterday, prompting immediate deployment to the Pine Lake Apartments located along Pine Lakes Parkway. Despite the rapid response, firefighters were met with a clubhouse roof that was already fully engulfed.
Both sources confirm that no injuries were reported among the residents of the apartment complex, and a thorough investigation is underway to verify the lightning strike theory and evaluate the extent of the damage caused.
