On the evening of July 19, a man was shot in what appears to have been a robbery gone awry. Details have also surfaced about a stabbing early the following morning that left another man wounded.
The LBPD's blotter reports the shooting incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on the 4800 block of Lakewood Boulevard, where the victim, a male adult, was admitted to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Following the shooting, police say, "the preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was near the 4800 block of Lakewood Boulevard, when he was approached by a male adult suspect." The assailant allegedly robbed and shot the victim. The extent of the victim's loss is being probed, with no crime scene identified at the location as of yet.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident the next day, LBPD officers found themselves at a different hospital responding to a stabbing case. A male adult with a stab wound was discovered following an incident at approximately 5:14 a.m., believed to have occurred somewhere near 2nd Street. Current inquiries are focused on pinning down the exact location, discerning the motive, and identifying a suspect in the stabbing.
Both investigations are underway, and law enforcement officials have not released any suspect information for either event at this time. The LBPD continues to look for connections to the crime scenes and is welcoming any information that could assist in their investigations. Those with any leads are encouraged to come forward to aid in the arrest and prosecution of the responsible parties.
