A grass fire that erupted on Thursday afternoon in Mount Washington has been fully extinguished by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). The fire ignited around 1:05 PM at 3500 N Tacoma Avenue, initially covering a 30'x30' area before spreading to a 50'x50' patch of grass, as reported by LAFD's incident alert. Fire crews quickly responded to the scene, with the operation being designated as incident number 0853.
Although the cause of the fire remains unknown, LAFD efforts were successful in not only containing but also completely extinguishing the blaze. The response included securing hose lines at the heel of the fire and establishing structure protection to ensure no further spread would occur. In their update, the LAFD noted, "Firefighters are securing hose lines at the heel of the fire and providing structure protection," indicating their strategy to keep the fire from advancing.
Approximately 46 firefighters were deployed to the scene, alongside air resources that were ready to be utilized but ultimately were not needed. This effective ground operation resulted in no reported injuries and no structural damage, highlighting the prompt and professional response of the LAFD in mitigating potential disasters.
