
A hiker in his 20s was safely rescued after getting lost on the Lāꞌie Falls Trail on Sunday. He became separated from his group during an evening hike and was missing for a few hours before signaling for help with a light. The distress call was made at 9:44 p.m., prompting a response from six units and 17 personnel. According to the Honolulu Fire Department, the rescue was completed without any medical issues.
A hiker who got separated from his group during a night hike was rescued by the Honolulu Fire Department. Air 1 located the hiker and arrived at 9:58 p.m. “Air 1 deployed rescue personnel at the top of the trail while the first-arriving ground crew began ascending the trail on foot,” the department said. The hiker was found uninjured.
"The aircraft landed at the hiker’s location and safely airlifted him to a nearby landing zone," quoted the Honolulu Fire Department in their report. The hiker arrived at the landing zone at around 11:30 p.m. and was evaluated, but declined medical attention.
