Residents of the town of Louviers have been urged to evacuate as a series of vegetation fires spread near Highway 85 and Titan Court. According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, their deputies are working closely with South Metro Fire Rescue and multiple other local and regional agencies in responding to the blazes. Emergency responders have called on roughly 130 personnel to combat the fires and assist with evacuations.
The urgency of the situation has led to the establishment of an evacuation site at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. A statement obtained by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office highlighted that the American Red Cross of Colorado is already on the scene, offering displaced residents necessary aid, including shelter, food, and other essentials. As the situation remains dynamic, officials are providing continued updates through the evening.
Amid the frantic effort to secure the safety of the Louviers community, Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly emphasized coordination and public well-being. "Public safety is our top priority, and we are grateful for the rapid coordination among all agencies involved," said Sheriff Weekly, as per the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
