A fire in Magna, Utah, caused significant damage to a home and nearby structures and led to a widespread power outage. As reported by ABC4, a structure fire broke out, engulfing a home and a detached garage. The flames subsequently spread to and damaged a power pole, resulting in a loss of power across the neighborhood.
The fire ignited yesterday afternoon at a residence near 3100 South and 9000 West, just as wind gusts picked up, providing fuel for the fire's growth. Officials informed KSL that the blaze originated in the backyard of the house, then spread to an RV, and eventually the main structure itself. The same windy conditions that aided in spreading the fire also hampered firefighting efforts, and, ultimately, the same power pole affected by the fire needed replacement.
Detailing the extent of the damage, KUTV reported that the blaze destroyed two detached garages and a small RV. Despite the fire's aggressive spread, crews were able to extinguish it before it completely consumed the home. Nevertheless, residents were left without electrical power and faced the stark reality of cleanup and repair in the fire's aftermath.
