Attention drivers in Wickliffe & Willoughby: major resurfacing work is set to commence on a key stretch of SR 84 starting from Monday, August 4. The Ohio Department of Transportation District 12, Cleveland, announced through a recent social media post that the stretch between Johnson Dr. and SR 91 (SOM Center) will be getting some much-needed TLC. Given the wear and tear of daily commutes and Ohio's four-season weather beatdown, the improvement works could not have come at a better time.
The project will introduce various lane restrictions, with ODOT aiming to wrap up the resurfacing by the coming fall. Announcing the upcoming works, ODOT's District 12 Cleveland was keen to alert local travelers of the anticipated disruptions to their daily routes. "There will be various lane restrictions throughout the project," the department noted, underscoring the need for drivers to plan ahead for potentially slower travel times or find alternative pathways.
The resurfacing process is no small feat, it involves scraping off the current worn-out surface and laying down a fresh layer of asphalt, which, when cured, provides a smoother and safer driving experience. This type of infrastructure maintenance is crucial to ensuring the longevity of our roadways and the safety of those who use them. Residents and commuters should keep an eye out for specific lane closure information as it becomes available via updates from ODOT.
