
A major collision this morning has resulted in significant closures on key roadways in Westmoreland County, causing traffic to come to a near standstill. According to reports from WPXI, both Route 119 and Route 66 over Interstate 70 in New Stanton have been shut down, while Interstate 70 itself has been narrowed to a single lane in each direction at the interchange.
PennDOT has issued a caution to drivers in the area, advising them to anticipate potential delays. Caught in the traffic, drivers were found seeking alternate routes, a sign of the disruption's wide-reaching implications.
Further complicating the situation, a fiery crash involving a tractor-trailer was reported at the intersection of Route 119 and Toll 66 in New Stanton around 8 a.m. Emergency personnel, along with a medical helicopter, were deployed to the scene, as reported by WTAE. The conditions surrounding the incident have yet to be disclosed in full detail.
