
A violent altercation in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood resulted in a 43-year-old man being arrested after he reportedly attacked another man with an axe. Seattle Police Department's blotter details that officers were called to a fight disturbance near Blanchard Street and 1st Avenue around 6:50 p.m.
Upon arriving, the police managed to promptly separate the two men involved in the confrontation. One individual, a 57-year-old man, had sustained a severe incision wound to his arm, along with a head injury. Officers acted swiftly to apply a tourniquet, attempting to staunch the significant blood loss the victim was suffering from.
The Seattle Fire Department provided medical aid once on scene and transported the injured man to Harborview Medical Center. He was listed in serious but stable condition. In the aftermath, the suspect was taken into custody and later booked into King County Jail on suspicion of assault. The axe used in the attack was also recovered and is now considered as evidence pending further investigation.
Seattle Police Department officials have confirmed that detectives from the Homicide and Assault Unit will be diligently working the case. The motivation behind the violent encounter remains unclear as the circumstances leading up to the incident are still under active investigation.
