A man has been arrested after making threats to "shoot up" the Sacramento County Main Jail, as per an announcement from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. The suspect, identified as Scott Lemar Brown, 47, reportedly called the jail's public line on July 24 and issued the threats against the facility and its deputies, prompting an immediate investigation by the Sheriff's Threat Management Unit.
The authorities, with support from the Central Patrol Division, were able to quickly home in on the identity of Brown, taking him into custody without incident. He was charged under PC 422 for making criminal threats, a felony offense. Now, Brown faces the prospect of his day in court, with an appearance scheduled for July 28. Notably, the man was booked into the same facility he is accused of threatening to violently disrupt, and he currently remains there, held without the possibility of bail.
According to the official social media post of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, "Brown's booking photo is ineligible for public release, per California law." The post details the serious nature of the threats and the swift response by law enforcement to address the potential danger posed by such declarations of violence.
Details of Brown's motives or the circumstances leading up to the threatening phone call have not been released. The public is asked to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities that could indicate threats to community safety. As the case progresses through the court system, further information may become available concerning this unsettling episode.
