A man was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting outside a Northwest Side motel on Tuesday, as confirmed by the San Antonio Police Department. Officers, responding to a shots-fired call before 10 a.m., found a 53-year-old man who had been shot multiple times in the torso, according to KSAT. Despite the efforts of the San Antonio Fire Department, the man was pronounced dead at the scene located on the 7100 block of Northwest Loop 410.

Richard Cervera, 35, was detained near the scene with blood on his clothes, less than fifteen minutes after police were called. Outside the motel, a witness reported hearing arguing and gunshots. This witness recounted to KSAT that following the sound of shuffling from her room, she heard "more of like fighting and stuff. And I heard a woman yell. She started yelling, 'Help me.' And then after like — they got outside up there, I just heard gunshots."

At a second location on Rita Avenue, where officers located other possible suspects and found the victim’s vehicle as well as a suspect vehicle, a standoff ensued but eventually ended without further incident. As reported by KSAT, the individuals inside the home were questioned and later released, and San Antonio Police Department Raven Unit cleared the scene.

The proximity of the crime scene to Gustafson Stadium, an athletic complex within the Northside Independent School District, was noted by KTSA and KSAT, though the incident has not been connected to any school district activities. Police say the investigation remains active, as additional details are yet to unfold, and it is possible that there are more suspects involved.
