The Houston Police Department responded to the scene at a business located on Calumet Street near South Freeway and Brays Bayou shortly before 12:45 a.m.
The conversation between the victim, an employee in his 30s working on pressure washing restaurant equipment, and the driver of a gray or silver truck escalated rapidly. "The person in the truck gets the man's attention, and he walks up to the truck," according to FOX 26 Houston. Following a brief exchange, the truck driver stepped out, and after more words were exchanged, the suspect fatally shot the victim and fled the scene.
As law enforcement attempts to untangle the sequence of events that led to this senseless act of violence, the gunman remains at large. Surveillance footage captured the victim's final moments, but the motive and the nature of the discourse between the men remain unknown. The victim was pressure washing various utensils and dishes when the incident occurred and was pronounced dead at the scene.
