
Yesterday morning, the Houston Police began an investigation into a fatal incident that happened on the Eastex Freeway. At around 12:10 a.m., a man was struck and killed while attempting to cross the highway. The victim, a 35-year-old male whose name has not been disclosed pending family notification, met his untimely end at 9200 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59), as per the City of Houston's news release.
Details given by the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer T. Smith highlighted that the deceased was crossing the freeway when he was hit by a blue Volkswagen Tiguan. The driver, following this tragic event, remained at the scene. They were cooperative and showed no signs of intoxication during the initial assessment. Despite the clear impact of the incident, the driver was ultimately questioned and released, with no immediate charges filed.
Houston Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene, where they pronounced the male deceased. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
