Early this morning, a man was shot by two Orange County deputies after he allegedly fled while holding a gun. This incident occurred near Orlando Central Parkway and Presidents Drive around 1:00 a.m. The deputies, who were assisting with a traffic detail at the time, pursued the man on foot before discharging their weapons, as detailed by ClickOrlando.
Following the shooting, deputies provided first aid to the individual before he was transported to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The deputies involved in the shooting have since been placed on paid administrative leave while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) conducts an investigation, as reported by WESH. This is standard protocol in such situations.
Concerning the investigative process and public information, Sheriff Mina announced, "There is body-worn camera footage of the incident, which I have reviewed, and we will release that within 30 days." After FDLE wraps up its inquiry, the findings will be passed over to the State Attorney's Office for further review. Once that review is completed, the Orange County Sheriff's Office will conduct its internal investigation, as Mina stated and as ClickOrlando conveyed.
