
A 56-year-old man was attacked earlier today while riding a southbound 1 train in Harlem. According to ABC7NY, the incident took place shortly after 6 a.m. as the train arrived at the 145th Street station. The man, who appeared to be asleep at the time, was stabbed in the head by an unidentified individual for reasons that remain under investigation.
First responders arrived at the scene to find the man injured and transported him to Mount Sinai Morningside, where he was reported to be in stable condition despite sustaining a head injury. A person of interest was taken into custody, with charges reported to be pending.
Police have not yet disclosed what may have led to the attack. A knife, believed to be the weapon used in the incident, was recovered at the scene, according to a report by 1010 WINS.
