The Bexar County Sheriff's Office has initiated a manhunt for Charles Vandoil Byrd, a 49-year-old man wanted on charges of "Tampering With Evidence With Intent to Impair a Human Corpse," after deputies located human remains at his residence. The remains, found wrapped in plastic and in a decomposed state, were discovered inside Byrd's Far South Bexar County home located on Pleasanton Road, as reported by Fox San Antonio.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the call that propelled deputies to Byrd's doorstep came in after Byrd allegedly claimed he killed his wife. Upon their arrival, deputies made the grisly discovery which has since implicated Byrd as a person of interest in this case. Currently believed to be armed and dangerous, Byrd was last observed driving a black 2025 Dodge Ram pickup truck, with Texas plates WLW-2027 yesterday, as stated by KENS 5.
Byrd is described as standing 5'6" tall, weighing approximately 208 pounds, and featuring blonde hair with blue eyes. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office, actively on Byrd's trail, urges anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward and contact them at 210-335-6000, with the option to remain anonymous.
The medical examiner, involved in the investigation, believes that the body recovered is that of a 44-year-old woman.
