Early morning shenanigans have resulted in a business burglary at a BP Gas Station on Union Avenue, and Memphis Police are calling for public assistance. According to the Memphis Police Department's news release, the incident occurred on July 24 and involved two unidentified suspects who were caught on camera in the act.
The first break-in was captured at around 12:04 a.m., where the video showed a suspect carrying a weed eater, clad in a black hoodie, black shorts, and black-and-white shoes. Not long after, surveillance footage captured two Black males, one wearing conspicuously cut-patterned blue jeans and a black hoodie, while his accomplice donned apparel similar to that of the first suspect. Their return at approximately 5:30 a.m. presented one suspect in light grey jogging pants - a subtle change in his attire.
Police are actively seeking leads and have requested that anyone with information regarding the burglary come forward. The duo's actions, which included using bolt cutters to remove a lock, were documented meticulously by the gas station's security system. The Memphis Police Department urges witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the suspects' identities to contact Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH. This outreach for tip-offs could be essential in the apprehension of the individuals responsible for the burglary.
The lack of immediate identification of the suspects complicates law enforcement efforts, as the anonymity of the perpetrators continues to shield their activities. As the investigation continues, the Memphis Police Department emphasizes the importance of community involvement in solving such crimes. The straightforward details of the suspect's clothing and the tools used in the crime have been released with the hope that someone will recognize the individuals and come forward with valuable information.
