In a rather unconventional hide-and-seek, a fugitive juvenile was discovered hiding beneath clothes in an apartment during a domestic call yesterday. As reported by the Covington, Tennessee, Police Department's social media post, the incident unfolded at around 10:15 am in Covington, TN, leading to the detention of a 17-year-old from Memphis, wanted on multiple charges.

Officers, who had responded to a domestic violence report at Broadmeadows Place Apartments, soon learned that the suspect had fled, but their investigative efforts quickly bore fruit. The individual, under the burden of charges including attempted first-degree murder and attempted especially aggravated robbery, managed to elude police for a time. "I commend the swift coordination between Patrol Officers, Criminal Analysts, and Detectives, whose teamwork and vigilance led to the safe apprehension of a dangerous fugitive,” said Chief Donna Turner via the social media post, highlighting the effective collaboration of law enforcement.

The search culminated when detectives, sifting through the apartment complex, targeted a residence suspected of concealing the fugitive. There, law enforcement found the young man cloaked not by shadows, but by an unsuspecting pile of laundry. Following the arrest, the juvenile now faces formal charges of domestic assault in Covington and will be handed over to Shelby County for the initial charges.

Adding to the day's apprehensions, 34-year-old Roneisha Whitelow, the resident of the apartment, was arrested and charged with Accessory After the Fact for harboring a fugitive. She is currently held on a $25,000 bond and is slated to appear in Tipton County General Sessions Court on Aug. 7. As the Covington Police Department continues its investigation, they remain open to the public for additional information that might surface.
