Authorities are on the lookout for suspects linked to an armed robbery that unfolded in Southeast this past week. The Metropolitan Police Department is urging community members to come forward with any information. According to an official release from the department, the incident took place last Saturday, when a planned sale of a watch went sour on L Street.
The victim, who had arranged the meeting via an online marketplace, was accosted by two additional suspects soon after the exchange began. One suspect seized control of the situation by brandishing a handgun and making demands for the watch, leaving the victim no choice but to relinquish their property. The suspects were then seen escaping the area, their images captured by nearby surveillance, offering a glimmer of hope for their eventual identification.
In the wake of the crime, the police have released surveillance photographs of the individuals believed to be responsible for the robbery, asking for assistance in identifying and locating the suspects. The images show the suspects moments before the incident.
Residents with any knowledge about the crime or the suspects' identities are strongly discouraged from intervening directly and should instead contact the police at (202) 727-9099, or anonymously send a tip via text to 50411, the department is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this violent crime, a sum that underscores the severity with which this robbery, and others like it, are viewed by law enforcement.
