Milton residents can expect some traffic disruptions tomorrow as portions of Heritage Walk in downtown Milton will be closed for pedestrian safety improvements. According to the City of Milton, access to local businesses and residences will remain open, but drivers should anticipate detours and possible delays, particularly during peak travel hours.

For those who regularly travel through the area, detour signs will be in place to help navigate around the closures as road crews carry out the work. The project involves the installation of speed tables at three locations along Heritage Walk, including one replacement. A new speed table will be added between the Crabapple Road roundabout and Itaska Walk. Another will be installed between McFarlin Lane and the Birmingham Highway roundabout, along with a crosswalk. The final change replaces an existing speed table and crosswalk between the Birmingham Highway roundabout and the entrance to the Market District parking lot.

The upgrades are intended to reduce vehicle speeds and improve pedestrian safety in downtown Crabapple. Although the closures may not take place all at once due to a single contractor overseeing the work, multiple closures could occur during the project timeline. Surrounding roads, including Itaska Walk, Lecoma Trace, McFarlin Lane, and Parkstead Lane, will remain open to maintain access to the area.

The city is operating on a set schedule, aiming to complete the upgrades by the end of this month. This timeline is intended to ensure that traffic flow on Heritage Walk returns to normal before school-related traffic begins early next month.
