Minneapolis residents should gear up for a dynamic weather pattern over the next several days. According to the National Weather Service, the city's forecast today includes a 30 percent chance of showers, primarily after 4 p.m., with a partly sunny sky and a high near 75 degrees. Light southeast winds in the morning are expected to pick up to 5 to 10 mph.
Coming into tonight, the chance for wet weather jumps to 60 percent. The outlook changes as we head into the weekend. "Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny," Saturday will bring a high near 79 degrees, with calm north winds around 5 mph. Clouds will clear out by Saturday night, with low temperatures expected to dip to around 61 degrees.
However, the relative peace in the weather will be short-lived. A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the region, covering today and tonight. According to the National Weather Service, "A few storms may be severe, particularly in southwestern MN." The warning states that large hail, damaging winds, and even a tornado or two are within the realms of possibility.
Extending the outlook through the next week, Minneapolitans should brace themselves for rising temperatures and humidity levels starting Tuesday. These conditions will likely bring heat indexes back into the lower 90s. During this period, residents should be mindful of the heat, staying hydrated, and avoiding excessive outdoor activity during peak temperatures.
