A man was fatally injured following a stabbing incident in Minneapolis, as detailed in a report from the Minneapolis Police Department. On Sunday afternoon, at around 5:05 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the 4900 block of Hiawatha Avenue after receiving reports of a stabbing. They discovered a man with critical stab wounds; he was promptly transported to Hennepin Healthcare where he succumbed to his injuries.
The confrontation, originating within a residence, took a lethal turn with the suspect having fled the scene before police arrival. Casting a wide net around the neighborhood, Minneapolis officers swiftly established a perimeter, managing to apprehend the second man in the 5300 block of 46th Avenue South, as reported by Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
"My thoughts are with the victim and those close to him as their lives have been forever changed," said Chief O’Hara. He praised the officers for their expedient reaction to the scene and in capturing the suspect. The police department is now working to piece together the circumstances under which the violent act unfolded and seek justice for the victim. Minneapolis forensic scientists were summoned to process the crime scene diligently.
The identity of the deceased, as well as the cause and manner of death, will later be made public by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. While the investigation continues to untangle the sequence of events, the police have issued a case number, GO# 25-186490, and are urging anyone with information to reach out via email, voicemail, or through CrimeStoppers where the anonymity of the tipsters is guaranteed, and they might be eligible for a financial reward should their information lead to an arrest and conviction.
