
The Minneapolis Police Department has confirmed an ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man in the early hours of Sunday. According to information sourced from the police, officers were dispatched after reports of a shooting near Mississippi Dr N/Lyndale Av N came in around 3:09 a.m., where they found the young man with a severe gunshot wound.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts upon their arrival, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The perpetrator had fled before law enforcement arrived.
Police Chief Brian O'Hara addressed the severity of the situation, stating, "Investigators are working diligently to gather information and learn what happened," in a briefing noted by the city's official government bulletin. The Chief also urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in the pursuit of justice for the young man and his loved ones.
The identity of the deceased has yet to be officially confirmed. As the investigation remains active, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release the name along with the official cause and manner of death once they are ascertained.
