A 3-year-old boy who was reported missing after being taken by his non-custodial father in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, has been found safe. The Mt. Juliet Police Department responded to an incident on Saturday at Academy Sports + Outdoors on 549 Pleasant Grove Road. Police said Landon Andrew Jones, 21, and the child’s mother were involved in an altercation. The mother tried to take the child, Kyren, from Jones’ vehicle, but he drove away with the boy, according to WKRN.
Kyren, a 3-year-old boy reported missing in Mt. Juliet, was found safe at a home in the area. His father, Andrew Jones, was taken into custody in nearby DeKalb County. Police said Jones had previously fled during a welfare check and was also accused of stealing a handgun from a family member on the same day, as reported by WSMV. The search ended about 45 minutes after authorities shared photos and information about Jones and the child. No other details have been released.
At the time he went missing, Kyren was described as having blue eyes and dark blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and gray shorts, and he was not wearing shoes. Jones was reported to be driving a dark orange or maroon 2020 Dodge Charger with dark tinted windows, black wheels, and Tennessee license plate 708BNXS, as mentioned by FOX 17 News. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and details about the father's motives or any legal action have not been released.
