Last Friday, a Ceres police officer stopped a brown 2001 Honda Odyssey with expired registration in the 1700 block of Crowslanding Road around 8:57 a.m. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Robert Smith of Modesto, was on active searchable probation. Police later found a firearm and narcotics in the vehicle, as reported by the Ceres Police Department.
During a probation compliance check, Officer Lord-Huff found an illegal controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and an unserialized firearm. Smith, who is not allowed to have firearms or ammunition, was arrested without incident and booked at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. The Ceres Police Department noted the incident in a social media post, but did not give details about the items found.
Following the incident, the community is reminded to follow vehicle registration laws, which can help identify individuals involved in criminal activity. According to the Ceres Police Department on their Facebook page, Smith was arrested, though no further investigation plans were mentioned. While details remain limited, the seizure is part of ongoing efforts to support public safety and prevent crime.
