Commuters take heed; the journey along Missouri Route 152 is due for a slowdown. Nightly lane closures will be continuing through November 2025, as announced by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). The resurfacing work—which initially was slated to wrap up in September—will now stretch its timeline across various locations on the eastbound and westbound lanes. It's a necessary inconvenience for the sake of smoother travels ahead.
Starting on Mondays from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., drivers will encounter disruptions from I-29 to MO Route 1 (Antioch Road). The resurfacing began on March 17 and was initially expected to finish in September. As for the stretch between MO Route 1 and I-35, lane closures that began on April 7 will continue until mid-August, according to MoDOT. Those closures start a little earlier in the evening, kicking off at 6 p.m. and wrapping by 6 a.m. the following morning.
MoDOT urges drivers to remain vigilant and slow down when navigating these work zones. The nature of these temporary disruptions varies, with some being short-lived lane closures designed for making expedient repairs or clearing roadside debris. The goal: to maintain a safe environment for both the crews on-site and the public on the move.
Maintaining the vast arteries of our transportation network is a herculean task, and it often plays out in the quiet solitude of night as we lay tucked away in our beds. Still, the extended skilled labor persists, reshaping and refining the roadways to ensure that by morning, we are met with safer, more reliable paths. Motorists should take these modifications in stride, adjusting their nighttime commutes and planning for potential delays.
