Heads up, Mid-Missouri drivers: a slew of road maintenance and construction works are on the horizon next week, as reported by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). Starting next Monday through July 13, expect various road activities including striping on interstates, pothole patching, and mowing across the region. While most drivers will encounter lane closures causing delays, the projects are all beholden to the temperamental Midwestern weather.
Throughout Boone County, significant upgrades and resurfacing projects are rolling out. For instance, Route WW (Broadway) is undergoing pedestrian facility upgrades, with likely temporary closures of walkways and occasional flagger-led single-lane closures. Likewise, Route Y will have a resurfacing from U.S. Route 63 to Route J, maintaining traffic with a pilot car to shepherd drivers through. MoDOT cautions that work schedules are flexible, dependent on weather conditions, and all the gritty details on the planned disruptions can be found on their website.
Jumping to U.S. Route 63, motorists can anticipate traffic shifts with a narrowed passage from Sugar Grove Road to north of Route AC (Grindstone Parkway). If you frequent I-70, prepare for ongoing pavement construction between Route B (Paris Road) and U.S. Route 63, set to wrap up neatly in 2027. Come nighttime; a closure will be in effect for the eastbound I-70 ramp to U.S. Route 63, from the evening of July 8 to the morning of July 12.
Down in Cooper County, bridge rehabilitation is kicking off atop Lamine River on July 7, while Crawford County sees culvert replacements blocking lanes from Route 19 to Route T. And, don't let down your guard in Cole County; bridge rehabilitation efforts over Lindon Drive and Stadium Boulevard are ongoing, tightening U.S. Route 54 to a single lane in each direction - and, with associated ramp closures through October, can cause quite the detour scramble.
On the other hand, Osage County is knee-deep in pavement resurfacing stretching out to May 2026, and Morgan County navigates roundabout construction with flagger-driven single-lane traffic. MoDOT reminds all drivers to remain vigilant, buckle up, ignore your phone, honor traffic signs, and respect work zones – specifically by slowing down and scooting over for road workers and their equipment.
