A Mooresville mother, 30-year-old Haley Ervin, is facing charges after allegedly kidnapping her child, who was in the custody of the Iredell County Department of Social Services. The incident was reported on Thursday by the Mooresville Police Department, after authorities were alerted to a possible kidnapping of a four-year-old. Investigations revealed that the child was taken without permission during a stay with a relative, as reported by WBTV.
On Friday, detectives, with help from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at a home in Rowan County. Ervin, found at the home with her child, was arrested. She has been charged with first-degree kidnapping and is being held at the Iredell County Jail without bond, according to WCCB Charlotte.
The kidnapping incident in Mooresville led to the Iredell County Department of Social Services taking custody of the child, who is now safe. "The child was returned to the custody of Iredell County Department of Social Services," officials said, as mentioned by Iredell Free News. In addition to the kidnapping charge, Ervin faces pending charges for uttering a forged instrument and obtaining property by false pretenses. Local authorities quickly responded to resolve the situation and ensure the child’s safety.
