A brazen robbery on Lindell led to the arrest of a mother and her teenage son earlier this week. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred when a 55-year-old woman was assaulted, and her vehicle, a Subaru Forester, was stolen.
Disturbance cascaded through District 4 on Monday, as officers responded to a robbery call. The situation rapidly escalated when the suspects attempted to make a getaway. District 5 officers received a tip-off soon after, prompting them to quickly locate and to try to intercept the stolen vehicle at North Kingshighway and Forest Park Parkway. The mother, aged 33, refused to stop, leading to a brief vehicular pursuit that ended in a crash at the 600 block of North Vandeventer.
The aftermath of the chase saw the woman apprehended after a struggle, while her 16-year-old son fled on foot, only to be later caught by pursuing officers. Meanwhile, two children found in the backseat were placed out of harm's way, their involvement unclear.
Charges were subsequently levied against the 33-year-old mother for Tampering, Aggravated Fleeing, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The teenager, meanwhile, was to be processed through the Juvenile Detention Center. The Circuit Attorney’s Office was quick to issue these charges, ensuring that justice begins swiftly to take its course.
The identities of the two children found at the scene have been withheld, and they have since been taken into protective care.
