A motorcycle rider died in a crash on Sunday morning on the Red Rock Scenic Loop near Mile Markers 8 and 9, close to the Icebox Canyon Trailhead. Metro police responded around 8:20 a.m. The rider was traveling eastbound on an Aprilia Tuono "at an excessive speed" and failed to make a curve, leading to the crash, according to News3LV.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Traffic Investigation Section and the Nevada State Patrol are investigating a fatal crash. Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, authorities believe the driver failed to navigate a curve and hit a boulder.
Upon impact, the rider was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. Emergency medical personnel responded quickly, but the 30-year-old rider was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by 8NewsNow. The individual’s identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
