Two individuals sustained serious injuries in an unusual motorcycle accident on Route 161 near New Albany yesterday afternoon. A plastic playhouse, tumbling out of a vehicle, became the unexpected catalyst for the crash. According to 10TV, the motorcyclists were heading westbound when the playhouse fell squarely onto the road, triggering a sequence of events that led to collisions and injuries.
At approximately 12:45 p.m., the Columbus Division of Police received calls about the incident. As reported by NBC4i, one motorcycle struck the playhouse directly, causing the rider to be abruptly ejected from their bike. A second rider, in a desperate attempt to narrowly avoid the obstruction, was also ejected. This led to the closure of the right lanes of SR 161 past New Albany Road as emergency teams responded to the chaotic scene.
Medics transported one rider to Mount Carmel East in serious condition. In contrast, the second rider, initially in critical condition, was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital but has since been upgraded to "stable". These updates come from ABC6 On Your Side, affirming no further injuries were reported.
