
The Metropolitan Police Department has put out a call for community assistance in tracking down suspects involved in a recent armed carjacking that took place in Northeast D.C., as per a press release from the department.
According to official reports, the incident happened early in the morning on June 7, around 3:45 a.m., when multiple individuals approached a person seated in a parked van along the 900 block of Eastern Avenue, Northeast, one suspect revealed a rifle and demanded that the victim exit the vehicle, they then assaulted the victim, took personal belongings, and took off with the van which was later found.
Surveillance cameras in the area managed to capture both the suspects and their vehicle. The MPD has released photos and is urging anyone with information about the suspects or the vehicle to come forward, ensuring their safety by advising not to engage but instead contact authorities immediately.
Individuals with knowledge about the crime, who can identify the suspects, are encouraged to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or to send a tip via text to the MPD's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411, and the department is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for the violence, which has shaken the community and sparked concerns about safety in the area.
