In the constant surveillance battle against auto theft, the Mt. Juliet Police Department has scored another technological victory. According to a social media post from the Mt. Juliet Police Department, the #MJGuardianShield license plate readers were instrumental in flagging a stolen 2025 Ford Mustang just as it entered and quickly exited Mt. Juliet, near Central Pike at the city limits. The car, which had been reported stolen out of Nashville on July 3, was also suspected of being involved in other thefts.

An MJPD officer, alertly patrolling the area, spotted the vehicle and managed to discreetly maintain visual contact while coordinating to tightly guide Metro-Nashville Police Department units to the car's location. The suspects were trailed to a 7-Eleven gas station on Lebanon Road at Andrew Jackson Parkway, where they decided to stop eventually, and were safely taken into custody. The operation showcases the burgeoning role that real-time tech plays in modern policing, even as officers expertly use it to seamlessly augment their on-the-ground tactics.
Taken into custody were a 19-year-old man from Nashville, who was wanted in Sumner County for failing to appear on a felony theft charge, and a 21-year-old man from Mt. Pleasant, who had a warrant in Wilson County for failing to appear on a suspended license charge. During the arrest, officers also reportedly found marijuana inside the vehicle. This turn of events wrapped up with MJPD praising their officers' swift action and the valuable partnership with MNPD.
