According to CHP Santa Rosa's account, the Silverado first sideswiped the big rig, directly hitting its left rear wheel and tire, before colliding head-on with the Ford Flex. The aftermath saw the Silverado stopped in the roadway, positioned sideways, while the Flex, in an attempt to evade, ended up against a tree. Bystanders witnessing the crash could only watch as emergency services rushed to the scene.

Four passengers of the Ford Flex were transported to nearby hospitals, with two suffering from major injuries, as detailed in the official social media post from CHP Santa Rosa. The conditions of the other involved parties were not immediately clear, but the Silverado driver was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with injuries termed as life-threatening.
