Chaos briefly erupted on the streets of South San Francisco earlier this week, as a stolen vehicle pursuit by local law enforcement culminated in an arrest near East Grand Avenue. The action unfolded when an automatic license plate reader camera picked up the stolen vehicle's presence and alerted Dayshift officers from the South San Francisco Police Department. A subsequent chase by the officers led to damage involving multiple cars and a foot chase before the suspect was apprehended.
According to a social media post from the South San Francisco Police Department, the pursuit began on Wednesday after the suspect's vehicle was spotted by an Automated License Plate Reader camera. The suspect attempted to navigate through several stopped cars, causing damage to four cars. Once the vehicle was abandoned, the pursuit continued on foot, ending shortly after by the swift response of the officers.
The aftermath of the chase saw a 29-year-old male, already on probation out of Antelope, facing a battery of charges. His alleged crimes include possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, unlawful possession of tear gas, possession of burglary tools, as well as charges for misappropriation of lost property, and obstructing & delaying arrest. "Thankfully, no one was injured at the time of the collisions," the South San Francisco Police Department notes.
