Last week, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) hosted a special guest who brought a touch of real-world savvy to the Forensic Science Investigator Camp for middle school students. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Corrections Lieutenant Pete Moseler shared his extensive experience from the field, diving into the intricate world of modern forensic techniques.
To foster passion among the youngsters, Moseler underlined the significance of forensic science in understanding and solving crimes, as quoted in a social media post by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. "I celebrate every opportunity when I can share the enormous community resources we have at MCSO. Whether it is a jail facility, patrol and investigative process, or court appearances," said Moseler. He reflects pride in exposing students to the full criminal justice cycle that serves to underpin a safer community.
A fixture in the program for 15 years, Moseler takes pride in sparking interest among the camp's inquisitive attendees, hoping that his lessons might illuminate a path toward their future careers. His involvement has consistently received accolades for its contribution to community education and engagement efforts carried out by the sheriff's office.
The hands-on event ventured beyond the classroom and allowed students an intimate glimpse into the real-life processes that make up the justice system, from start to finish, something that Multnomah County Sheriff's Office fervently supports under its #BehindTheBadge initiative. Their official post concludes, thanking Lt. Moseler for "inspiring the next generation of forensic pros."
