The Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) in Tennessee has opened applications for its Fall 2025 Citizens Police Academy, an initiative designed for residents of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County who are eager to gain insight into the daily grind of the city's police force. According to a social media post by the department, the program will run weekly from August 19 to November 11, between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM at 1004 N. Highland Ave., offering participants a chance to learn about the MPD's operations, connect with officers, and take departmental tours.
Interaction with the very fiber of law enforcement in the community is promised, allowing individuals a firsthand perspective on the various aspects that frame the umbrella of policing – from routine patrols to investigative procedures, the program intends to provide a comprehensive overview for those interested. Applications are currently open, and those with questions are encouraged to reach out to Lt. Jason Higgins via email at [email protected] or by phone at 629-201-5565, for more information on the academy, which champions the department's aim to build trust and transparency within the Murfreesboro community.
Registration is now open for the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy. This free program gives residents a chance to learn how the police department works and to build better understanding between officers and the community. Participation is optional and open to anyone interested in law enforcement or civic involvement. For those interested in joining the upcoming Fall session, the registration details and additional information can be found by visiting the official Murfreesboro Police Department Facebook page or the URL provided in the department's announcement.
