The Murfreesboro TN Police Department has announced an initiative aimed at giving local teenagers a glimpse into law enforcement operations through the Fall 2025 Teen Citizens Police Academy. In a recent social media post, the department called for teens aged 14–17 to apply for the program, which promises an educational experience behind the scenes at MPD.
Set to run from August 19 to September 23, the initiative is directed at high school students or those who reside within the city limits of Murfreesboro. Potential candidates must be prepared to commit to all six weeks of the program, ensuring they get the full experience. Additionally, only 20 slots are available, making it an exclusive opportunity for a small group of individuals to engage deeply with their local police force.
The participatory course offers a curated look into various aspects of policing and aims to foster stronger community ties through transparency and education. This mirrors efforts by law enforcement agencies nationally that seek to build trust and understanding between police and the communities they serve. As the MPD advertises, young individuals keen on participating are encouraged to apply soon and become part of an impactful community learning experience. The department’s post invites interested teens to "be part of something impactful."
Accessible through the Murfreesboro Police Department's official Facebook page, the application window for this progressive initiative is currently open. The selected individuals will convene at the Murfreesboro Police Department located at 1004 N. Highland Ave for the duration of the program.
