
A violent episode on an interstate on-ramp has rocked Nashville. In a tragic development, 26-year-old Tyquan Jackson has succumbed to his injuries following a shooting that took place late Saturday night on the I-40 East entrance ramp from Old Hickory Boulevard. Officials urge anyone with information to step forward, with a cash reward as a potential incentive for tips that help solve this crime. Details about Jackson’s death and the circumstances leading up to it were made available by the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The victim, initially critically injured, was involved in chasing a suspect or suspects who reportedly broke into his Hyundai Kona. His zeal to retrieve stolen property, according to the police, turned deadly when the situation escalated into gunfire as he followed them onto the aforementioned ramp. During the pursuit, "at least one round penetrated the windshield and struck him in the head," authorities detailed.
In the aftermath of the shooting, security personnel from a neighboring apartment complex reported hearing shots. It was instrumental in locating Jackson, who was injured in his vehicle on the ramp. While the victim was promptly rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, his fight for life came to an end as he was declared dead from his injuries.
Law enforcement officials have yet to release details about the suspects involved in the case. Those at the scene, hearing the shots, were the security guards who subsequently found Jackson and called for help. The Metro Nashville Police Department emphasizes that, "Anyone with information about Jackson's murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463."
