The Nevada County Sheriff's Office and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife have announced a joint effort to strengthen enforcement against illegal cannabis operations. In a social media post, the Nevada County Sheriff's Office said the collaboration will help streamline investigations and address environmental impacts, including threats to waterways and ecosystems.

A recent operation led to the service of eight search warrants over two days, resulting in the removal of 12,342 cannabis plants and more than a ton of processed cannabis. Authorities also found firearms and the banned pesticide Carbofuran at the locations. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office stated that Carbofuran is highly toxic and can cause serious health problems, including death.

Three people were arrested during recent raids related to illegal cannabis operations, according to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page. They face charges including conspiracy, illegal cultivation, and environmental violations. The Nevada County District Attorney's Office and several state agencies were involved in the effort. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said the operations will continue through summer and fall. Residents are encouraged to report suspected illegal grows through the county’s tip line.
