A man and a woman were arrested in Nevada County on Monday in connection with an ongoing narcotics investigation. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office reported that 34-year-old Kalen Turner and 25-year-old Maya Hylan were taken into custody on multiple drug-related charges involving fentanyl.

A couple and Matthew Catania, who had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, were arrested near a storage facility on Loma Rica Road in Grass Valley. Last Wednesday, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office used K9 Riggs to search the facility. The dog alerted deputies to a unit rented by the couple. A search warrant was served, and authorities found narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and ammunition. One of the suspects, Turner, had been previously arrested on June 3 for controlled substance possession under Proposition 36, a law passed in California in 2024.

Turner and Hylan were arrested in Grass Valley and are facing several charges related to narcotics and ammunition. Turner’s charges include drug sales, possession, and being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition. Hylan is also charged with narcotics possession and sales. According to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page, “Turner’s new charges included: possession/purchase for sale narcotics – 11351 HS; possession of a controlled substance – 11350(A) HS; possession of unlawful paraphernalia – 11364(A) HS.” Turner, Hylan, and a third person, Catania, are currently in custody while the investigation continues.
