A 60-year-old man was arrested in Rough and Ready, California, after a domestic violence-related standoff on Tuesday. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said Brian Keith Crane was taken into custody after a woman called 911 earlier that day, reporting she was fleeing an assault.
Deputies met the caller at another location and confirmed her injuries matched those from an assault. They attempted to reach Crane, who had barricaded himself inside his home. A former Critical Incident Negotiations Team member spoke with him by phone for over an hour before he agreed to surrender. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office stated that Crane faces charges including “inflicting corporal injury - 273.5(A) PC; making criminal threats.”
According to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office on their Facebook page, law enforcement seized nine firearms, ammunition, and rifle magazines from Crane’s residence, and two additional firearms during a search the following day. The Nevada County Superior Court granted a “no-bail enhancement,” keeping Crane in custody at the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility while he awaits further court proceedings.
