Heads up, Kapa‘a drivers: A new traffic pattern is about to make its debut at the intersection of Olohena Road and Ka‘apuni Road starting on August 4, as announced by the Department of Public Works and Earthworks Pacific, their contractor. This adjustment aims to streamline the flow of vehicles and potentially reduce traffic collisions in the area. Motorists should note that these changes include the creation of a dedicated left-turn lane on westbound Olohena Road and the repositioning of stop signs.
The specific changes detailed include the establishment of a stop sign on the west leg of Olohena Road at the confluence of Ka‘apuni Road and Kaehulua Road. Additionally, the stop sign currently situated on Ka‘apuni Road as it meets Olohena Road is set for removal. As reported by the County of Kauai, these traffic pattern alterations are designed to facilitate smoother turns and passage for those traversing this frequent juncture.
With any shift in road patterns, there's an inevitable period of adjustment for regular commuters. Local authorities are urging the public to exercise caution and patience. "Please exercise caution and drive slowly when commuting through the work area and while motorists adjust to the new traffic pattern," the County of Kauai advisory notes.
Those seeking further details or who have concerns regarding the traffic pattern change are encouraged to reach out to Joel Bautista at the County of Kauai. Bautista can be contacted at 808-241-4883 or via email at [email protected].
