The Novato Police Department announced the arrest of a local man involved in a child exploitation case, following an intensive investigation with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. According to a social media post by the Novato Police Department, 20-year-old Novato resident John Ramirez was purportedly engaging in illegal activity by downloading and viewing Child Sexual Assault Material and by communicating with minors via the internet.

Detectives unearthed evidence implicating Ramirez in these heinous acts through search warrants executed at his residence. Despite their efforts, Ramirez was not present and was believed to have managed to flee southward to California. The pursuit of justice required extended coordination; thus, the Novato Police Department called upon the US Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Fugitive Task Force to aid in capturing the fleeing suspect.

On Tuesday, the US Marshals successfully located and arrested Ramirez in Southern California. He is currently pending extradition back to Marin County, where he faces charges for possession of 1,650 images of child pornography involving minors under the age of 12, alongside possession of images depicting sexual sadism to a minor.
