An Oakland woman, Yasmin Charisse Millett, 22, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison for her role in a series of bank robberies across California. Millett participated in at least 10 robberies between June 2023 and September 2024 in cities such as Sacramento, Vallejo, Suisun City, Benicia, Concord, and Antioch, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Court records state that Millett led a group involved in bank robberies by directing others to enter banks wearing sunglasses and carrying purses to pass demand notes to tellers. The notes included threats such as "I will kill everyone in here." On July 17, 2023, Millett used a stolen white Audi A7 during a robbery at a credit union in Suisun City. While Millett stayed in the vehicle, a co-conspirator entered the bank and gave the teller a note that said, "Don’t Make eye contact Don’t look suspicious Don’t Push emergency Button Put smile on your face or I will shoot," as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The day after the robbery, police stopped a stolen Audi driven by Millett and found bait money and a demand note on the driver’s seat, linking her to the incident. Co-defendants Dontae Jones Jr., 20, and JoMya Mauriyne Futch, 21, pleaded guilty and are scheduled to be sentenced on August 7. The case involved multiple FBI field offices and local police departments in Northern California. Assistant U.S. Attorney Whitnee Goins is prosecuting the case, as stated by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
