An incident involving an off-duty deputy led to multiple charges and subsequent termination from the Coffee County Sheriff's Office. The Murfreesboro Police Department arrested Miles White, 32, at McKnight Park after being called to a disturbance in the pool locker room, as reported by WGNS Radio. The situation escalated, with White ultimately facing two counts of assault on an officer, in addition to public intoxication and resisting arrest.
Upon further investigation, the Coffee County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) confirmed White's termination, citing the importance of public trust and accountability. Sheriff Chad Partin was quoted by WSMV stating, "Public trust is earned through accountability. We will not tolerate behavior that undermines the integrity of this office or the community we serve." According to authorities, White was off duty at the time of the altercation, which occurred over the weekend.
After the arrest, White, a resident of Estill Springs, was booked into Rutherford County Detention Center with a bond set at $11,500. The response from the CCSO reiterated its stance on the behavior of its employees, both on and off duty, emphasizing a commitment to transparency according to a statement obtained by WKRN.
The Coffee County Sheriff's Office has since been cooperative with the investigation being conducted by appropriate authorities in Rutherford County. In his address regarding the incident, Sheriff Partin affirmed the agency's dedication to upholding ethical standards. "The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office holds all of its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards. Law enforcement officers must be accountable for their actions, on and off duty" he told WSMV.
