An officer-involved shooting is currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division following an incident that occurred in the Devonshire Division. As per a report released by the LAPD, the event unfolded on Sunday evening, after police responded to a report of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW) involving an armed suspect.

The suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Romario Iraheta, was seen attempting to quickly evade capture on a skateboard when officers arrived on the scene. According to the LAPD's initial findings, the situation escalated into a foot chase along the 9300 block of Corbin Avenue after Iraheta allegedly pointed a firearm at the officers, leading to the discharge of a police firearm.

Iraheta was injured by the gunfire yet managed to flee before being apprehended. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he has been listed in stable condition. No other injuries were reported. A black steel handgun including a high-capacity magazine and ammunition was recovered and has since been entered into evidence related to this case.

The LAPD has clarified that "The Department’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed." They continue to thoroughly investigate the incident, with efforts being made to comprehensively to analyze all related evidence. The Force Investigation Division is responsible for investigating incidents of an officer's use of force resulting in a person's injury or death.
