According to News9, Executive Director Brent Hart has expressed his excitement for this year's turnout stating, "We're super excited to have thousands upon thousands, the entire park will be packed with families coming to celebrate Independence Day and music." Set in Scissortail Park, the event is anticipated to draw in large crowds, ready to unfurl their blankets and set up lawn chairs for an evening of patriotic tunes.
Music isn't the only star of the event; a dazzling fireworks display is the cherry on top of an already enticing patriotic sundae. Hart revealed to News9 that "We're going to conclude the concert with some fireworks, which everyone enjoys." Meanwhile, the festivities serve as a prelude to former President Donald Trump's proposed yearlong bash in 2026 to mark America’s 250th birthday.
As the 16th annual Red, White, and Boom concert gears up, special guests such as Canterbury Voices will join the Philharmonic for the first time, according to KOCO. Hart highlighted the collaboration, "We're excited to have Canterbury Voices join us. The first time ever in these 16 years. So, we'll have a choir, an adult and youth choir," adding a choral dimension to the time-honored tradition. Attendees are encouraged to bring those essentials to make the most out of the celebration, including friends, family, and that ever-important lawn chair.
The festive event also acts as sneak peek into the OKC Philharmonic's upcoming season, with notable performances lined up for the night. One such performance, as stated by News9, includes "a wonderful singer, Audrey Logan who will be performing, and you'll even get a sneak peek of next season with a song by Dolly." Red, White & Boom starts at 8:30 p.m. tonight at Scissortail Park, with the firework show following around 9:45 p.m. to 10 p.m., capping off what promises to be a memorable evening in OKC.
